Why develop a wellness program?
In 2020, 12% of officers reported a prior diagnosis of mental illness and 26% screened positive for depression, anxiety, PTSD, or suicidal ideation or self-harm symptoms.
A mental health diagnosis was particularly high among:
Female officers
Officers who were divorced, widowed, or separated
Officers with military experience.
Barriers for first responders in accessing mental health services include:
Inability to identify when they are experiencing a mental illness
Concerns about confidentiality
Belief that psychologists cannot relate to them
Stigma that officers who seek mental health services are not fit for duty
Programs specific to your agency’s needs

-
A confidential 45-60 minute session with each employee in our office.
-
A training series developed to address your agency’s focus areas for growth and education on a quarterly or biannual schedule.

-
“Supporting officer mental health is essential for the well-being of officers and their colleagues, agencies, and communities.”
