Wellness Programs
Healthy officers and first responders are essential for a healthy community.
Why Develop A Wellness Program?
A 2020 study suggests mental health is an occupational concern. 12% of officers reported a prior diagnosis of mental illness and 26% screened positive for depression, anxiety, PTSD, or suicidal ideation or self-harm symptoms.
A mental illness diagnosis was particularly high among female officers; officers who were divorced, widowed, or separated; and officers with military experience.
Barriers in accessing mental health services:
Inability to identify when they are experiencing a mental illness
Concerns about confidentiality
Belief that psychologists cannot relate to them
Stigma that officers who seek mental health services are not fit for duty
The Center for Resilience & Wellness develops programs specific to your agency needs.
Program Components:
Group Informational Meeting- Meet and greet, discussion of wellness program goals, lecture on topic of agency’s choice.
Individual Wellness Check-In- A confidential 45-60 minute session with each employee.
Programs typically include the group informational meeting and the individual wellness check-in or only the individual wellness check-in.
